Nobody likes to administer and troubleshoot servers within their cold server room, often Server Administrators use Windows XP AdminPack to create a remote session to the server within their desk and perform all required tasks.
Unfortunately Windows XP Adminpack isn’t compatible with Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, therefore those few enterprises that decided to upgrade to Vista must send their technicians back to Alaska!
But now there is a solution, if you install Vista SP1 and Microsoft Remote Administration tools, you are able to get the same functionalities Adminpack provided plus new utilities and support for Windows Server 2008.
Once installation has been completed, you should go to control panel, programs and features, install or remove Windows Features and enable Remote Server Administration tools.
Then we get those tools we used on our daily duties in Windows XP, such as: DHCP, Print Server, Active Directory Domain and Certificate Services, DNS Server Service Tools, Shared Folders Tools and others. |
